Call to Worship

 People of God! One in the Spirit! Sing to the Lord a new song. 

You call us to draw near to God and to each other, members of the household of God. 

Women and men, One in the Spirit! Sing to the Lord a new song. 

We come as you made us: red and yellow, black, brown and white. 

You men and young women, One in the Spirit! Sing to the Lord a new song.

 We gather from our different paths of life, from business and baking bread; from times of laughter and times of tears. 

Children of God, Friends in the Spirit! Sing to the Lord a new song.

 Thanks be to God! We are friends in Christ Jesus, with you and each other. We join our voices, our hearts filled with joy to the glory of God. Thanks be to God!

Prayer

Gracious God, You love us as a father, You care for us as a mother, You came to share our life as our older brother. We confess before You our failure to live as Your children, brothers and sisters bound together in love. 

Forgive our life-denying pursuit of life and teach us anew what it means to be Your children. To you we lift our hearts. In You is our hope. As you healed a woman on the Sabbath day and made her straight, heal us in body and spirit. 

You have called us to serve You and we trust the Spirit to fill and empower us. Grant us grace to receive your Word in humility, and so to be made one with your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
